Similarly, Abu Abd al-Rahman al-Sulami recounted, “Those who used to recite us told us that if they knew ten verses, they would not leave them behind until they did what was in them, so we learned the Quran and the work together.”

The Noble Qur'an » Al-'alaq ( The Clot ) - العلق

اقْرَأْ بِاسْمِ رَبِّكَ الَّذِي خَلَقَ العلق [1]
Recite in the name of your Lord who created - Al-'alaq ( The Clot ) [1]
خَلَقَ الْإِنسَانَ مِنْ عَلَقٍ العلق [2]
Created man from a clinging substance. Al-'alaq ( The Clot ) [2]
اقْرَأْ وَرَبُّكَ الْأَكْرَمُ العلق [3]
Recite, and your Lord is the most Generous - Al-'alaq ( The Clot ) [3]
الَّذِي عَلَّمَ بِالْقَلَمِ العلق [4]
Who taught by the pen - Al-'alaq ( The Clot ) [4]
عَلَّمَ الْإِنسَانَ مَا لَمْ يَعْلَمْ العلق [5]
Taught man that which he knew not. Al-'alaq ( The Clot ) [5]
كَلَّا إِنَّ الْإِنسَانَ لَيَطْغَىٰ العلق [6]
No! [But] indeed, man transgresses Al-'alaq ( The Clot ) [6]
أَن رَّآهُ اسْتَغْنَىٰ العلق [7]
Because he sees himself self-sufficient. Al-'alaq ( The Clot ) [7]
إِنَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ الرُّجْعَىٰ العلق [8]
Indeed, to your Lord is the return. Al-'alaq ( The Clot ) [8]
أَرَأَيْتَ الَّذِي يَنْهَىٰ العلق [9]
Have you seen the one who forbids Al-'alaq ( The Clot ) [9]
عَبْدًا إِذَا صَلَّىٰ العلق [10]
A servant when he prays? Al-'alaq ( The Clot ) [10]
أَرَأَيْتَ إِن كَانَ عَلَى الْهُدَىٰ العلق [11]
Have you seen if he is upon guidance Al-'alaq ( The Clot ) [11]
أَوْ أَمَرَ بِالتَّقْوَىٰ العلق [12]
Or enjoins righteousness? Al-'alaq ( The Clot ) [12]
أَرَأَيْتَ إِن كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ العلق [13]
Have you seen if he denies and turns away - Al-'alaq ( The Clot ) [13]
أَلَمْ يَعْلَم بِأَنَّ اللَّهَ يَرَىٰ العلق [14]
Does he not know that Allah sees? Al-'alaq ( The Clot ) [14]
كَلَّا لَئِن لَّمْ يَنتَهِ لَنَسْفَعًا بِالنَّاصِيَةِ العلق [15]
No! If he does not desist, We will surely drag him by the forelock - Al-'alaq ( The Clot ) [15]
نَاصِيَةٍ كَاذِبَةٍ خَاطِئَةٍ العلق [16]
A lying, sinning forelock. Al-'alaq ( The Clot ) [16]
فَلْيَدْعُ نَادِيَهُ العلق [17]
Then let him call his associates; Al-'alaq ( The Clot ) [17]
سَنَدْعُ الزَّبَانِيَةَ العلق [18]
We will call the angels of Hell. Al-'alaq ( The Clot ) [18]
كَلَّا لَا تُطِعْهُ وَاسْجُدْ وَاقْتَرِب ۩ العلق [19]
No! Do not obey him. But prostrate and draw near [to Allah]. Al-'alaq ( The Clot ) [19]
